Are We The 99%? by Heather McKee Hurwitz

I feel very honored to have been asked by Dr. Heather McKee Hurwitz to use my We Are The 99% project for the cover of her new book "Are We The 99%?", to be published by Temple University Press in 2020.

Really looking forward to reading this work - as I find its summary highly relevant and inline with my experiences of the Occupy movement.

About the book:
This is the first comprehensive feminist and intersectional analysis of the Occupy movement.
The book provides new evidence about whether women contributed significantly or whether men dominated the movement. Findings support both analyses: while women and genderqueer persons participated in many aspects of the movement, many endured antifeminist backlash or even suffered sexual harassment in order to participate.
While studies have paid attention to conflicts over goals or strategies, Are We the 99%? proposes that conflicts over gender, race, class, and sexuality issues are crucial areas of infighting and debate that have yet to receive significant attention.
Each chapter provides intersectional analysis of conflicts within Occupy about collective identities (ch.2), framing (ch.3), leadership (ch.4), and feminism (ch.5).
The book evaluates similarities and differences between the Occupy movement and the Civil Rights movement, feminist movements, the Arab Spring,
#BlackLivesMatter, and more, and by doing so, provides lessons for contemporary activists.
